Safely Dispose of Your Unwanted Medicine
MED‑ Project provides services for the collection and disposal of unwanted pharmaceutical products from households as mandated by legislation. Our collection and disposal services provide patients with the ability to safely dispose of unwanted medicines.
MED-Project provides free prepaid, pre-addressed mail-back packages for safe disposal.
Mail-Back package options include:
- Unwanted medication mail-back envelope
- Inhaler mail-back package
- Injector mail-back package
Mail-Back Distribution Locations may also be available in your area. These are locations where you can pick up a mail-back package in-person, rather than requesting it by mail.

- To protect your privacy, patients are reminded to remove all personally identifiable information on medication labels or packaging before disposing of unwanted medicine.
- Please be sure to separate the “not accepted” medicine from any accepted medicine before disposing.
- If transferring medications to a sealed bag, please be sure to recycle remaining packaging.
- Do not place medicine in the trash or recycling, and never flush them down the toilet.
Accepted Medicine:
Medications in any dosage form, except for those identified as “not accepted” below, in their original container or sealed bag are accepted.
Not Accepted:
- Herbal remedies
- Vitamins
- Cosmetics
- Batteries
- Mercury-containing thermometers
- Sharps
- Illicit drugs
